10 Questions with Macca’s Plumber
1. Name & Nickname – Matt Free (Freelance, Matty the Flame, Maverick)
2. Where are you from? - Rosebud, Victoria
3. Previous Seasons with AAD? - None, I’m a first timer, Green Horn, new kid on the block.
4. Describe your role in 50 words – I’m one of the 3 plumbers Wayne, Dan and myself on station this year, my role predominantly involves the renovation works on Hass House, incinerator burns, water production and other plumbing maintenance on and around station and the Huts.
5. What did you do before you joined the AAD? – I worked for a company called Stiebel Eltron based out of Melbourne in a technical role and mainly covered all of Victoria and Tasmania.
6. What’s the favourite part of your job @ Macca? - Working with the other trades team members.
7. What are your top 3 funniest moments of the Macca season thus far? – Late night spontaneous mini Olympics in the mess, making our WIFFA short film and my fellow plumbers Wayne and Dans random stories.
8. What are top 3 highlights of your Macca thus far? – Top of the list would be winning the AAD annual winter darts competition, directing our WIFFA film entry “Get Macca” and getting out down island by myself to the huts.
9. Favourite piece of AAD kit for use at Macca? - I have a few, the fleece neck gaiter, the wooly socks and the ice breaker thermal pants.
10. What are the top 3 things you are looking forward to when you return home? – Spending time with my beautiful partner Nomes, flying my aeroplane again and going to a Café.
