The science building at Casey includes:
- 3 General Laboratories
- Microscope room
- Preparation room
- Instrument room
- Wet lab
- Electronics workshop
- Office space (12 desks)
- Hazardous chemical storage facility
The laboratories are connected to station services, have hot and cold running water, facilities to pipe gases into most rooms and a central vacuum system. They contain:
- Millipore ‘Integral’ water purification unit,
- Fume cupboards
- Laminar flow
- Temperature/light programmable culture cabinets
- Fridge & freezer storage capacity
- Ovens
- Microscopes
- Centrifuges
- Autoclave
- pH/conductivity meters
- Analytical & bench top balances
- Muffle Furnace
- Vortex mixers
The following equipment is also available for use at Casey upon request:
- Flow Cytometers (FacScan; FacScalibur)
- Flow Cam (Fluid Imaging)
- Water baths
- Suspension mixers
- Automatic titrators
