Our environmental protection research is conducted in 2 key areas:

  • Environmental remediation and restoration – research to inform procedures, technologies and environmental guidelines that will reduce the impacts of humans on the Antarctic and subantarctic environment.
  • Biodiversity conservation – investigating the effects of environmental change on Antarctic and subantarctic ecosystems, providing the scientific basis to guide enhanced environmental protection.
