Describe your role in two sentences: Carpenter that does a whole range of jobs including demolition, renovation, trenching, cabinet-making, painting, tiling, first & second fix-outs, floor-laying… I could go on but I can see you’re already bored.
What did you do before you joined the AAD? I run my own building company Red Centre Building & Maintenance in the Alice.
What is your favourite part of your job here at Macca? The wildlife is amazing and my fellow expeditioners are great fun to be around.
If you were not a Carpenter, what would be your dream job? Professional penguin-hugger.
What do you like to do in your spare time? Go to the gym, photography, learn the guitar, darts, eating (thanks Arvid, station chef!).

What actor would play you in a film version of our 73st ANARE season here at Macca? Baldrick from Blackadder.
What is your favourite spot here at Macca and why? Green Gorge: the hut has real character and the beach is amazing with all the wildlife on it.
Favourite piece of Australian Antarctic Division kit? My Nalgene water bottle.
What is your favourite book / movie (or both) and why?
Movie – The Greatest Showman: everyone should have dreams in life.
Book – Seveneves by Neal Stephenson: it shows what humanity can achieve when we work together; but then again we still manage to muck it up in the end, so...
What is your typical 'Slushy FM' genre? Do you have a particular favourite? I like all sorts of music, I don’t really have a “genre”.
Describe your Macquarie experience with: a sight, a smell, a sound, a feeling and a taste.
Sight – All the Macca wildlife, can’t choose between the penguins, albatrosses, elephant seals, orcas, fur seals, leopard seals, etc.
Smell – Elephant seal poo.
Sound – Penguins calling each other.
Feeling – Happy and humble.
Taste – Salt.
