A recap of the 2021 winter solstice celebrations

2021 Midwinter at Casey Station

This past week at Casey has been all about Midwinter!

Monday 21 June marked the winter solstice and the birth of a new solar year, as the shortest day and longest night came to pass. For the Casey winter expedition team, Midwinter's day was a huge milestone in our deployment after eight months on the ice.

Amongst many highlights, the Midwinter swim and dinner were definite standouts...and then just like that, it was over!

Now we're straight back to business, digging out snow in preparation to undertake the Midwinter fuel transfer at the end of week - onwards and upwards!
