In 2019 I began something light-hearted for the community on stations to join in with, which was an open invitation to write haiku (the Japanese form of poetry) on the station message board. This has continued since then to now. Here are a few with regards to some of my experiences here at Mawson this season so far.
Aurora night sky,
People blessed by angel’s touch,
Now my hands are cold!

Midwinter presents,
Showcasing fantastic skills,
Spare time sacrificed.

Emperor kingdom,
Long trips on ice in darkness,
A cold paradise.

Windy Sunday morn,
Sea ice trekking will be soon,
Mother nature’s call.
***
Pool cut into ice,
Water is kinder than wind,
Ice bath trend be-gone!
