Macquarie Island electrician Marcus takes us on a photographic tour of his six months on the island.

Six month wrap-up of life on Macquarie Island through images

With the holiday season fast approaching, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past six months I've spent on Macquarie Island.

Friends and family often ask me what it's like living on an island in the Southern Ocean. Unless you've had the chance to experience it firsthand, it's hard to truly convey the unique combination of incredible wildlife, extreme isolation, unpredictable weather, and the distinctive charm of life in a field hut.

The past six months have flown by, and before I know it, I'll be back in the "real world."

In the meantime, I’ve put together a selection of photos and videos that I hope will offer a glimpse into what life is like here for us lucky few.

Enjoy!
