With the Aurora Australis due in a few weeks, our activities on station this week are concentrated on preparations for our upcoming Voyage four resupply.
There are a large number, and a wide variety, of projects planned over the eight day resupply including “return to Australia” items being organised, round trip science, logistics, media and VIP visits. Our seasonal station crew changeover will also take place. Our outdoor activities over the last week were somewhat curtailed while the Australian Antarctic Division dealt with the medical evacuation at Davis station.
So here is a selection of photos of our wonderful environment from the last week or two, including the magnificent aurora we enjoyed on the same night last week when places in southern Australia also saw the southern lights. We see auroras here quite frequently on clear nights, but we don’t get many clear nights!
