Slushies + chef = fantastic food on station

My job as the chef wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable without our 'slushies'.

A slushy is the person assigned to help out in the kitchen for the day. The slushy is not only responsible for doing the dishes and general cleaning of the kitchen and mess, but also helps prep food, slicing meat, cooking pancakes, chopping vegetables (which allows me to concentrate on fun things like making birthday cakes!)

Everyone on station rotates through slushy duties, so every day there’s someone ‘new’ helping, which keeps things interesting (especially as the slushy is in charge of the music - you can imagine there is varied music taste within a crew of 19!) One day there will be a plumber or the doctor, the next could be the station leader or a carpenter, so the conversations are also varied and captivating.

I am grateful every day for all of them (when I go home it’s always a rude shock that I have to do my own dishes!) Thanks slushies!
