On Saturdays, Mawson station expeditioners participate in community training. Usually it's the critical or risky subjects such as fire training, search and rescue drills etc. but interspersed with the compulsory, we sprinkle a few more light hearted opportunities to learn. As I am planning to establish my own brewery on return to my home in Freycinet, Tasmania, I thought I'd take the opportunity to teach the crew the principles of grain-based brewing. Pictures speak the best, so here are some that capture my captive audience! I have also trained the team in the essentials of sourdough bread making, and in return look forward to learning the basics of woodwork, plumbing and other skills members of our team might pass on to those interested.
