Winter sets in on the Green Sponge

Snow covers almost everything

Hello, my name is Kirby, and I’m one of Macquarie Island's very busy electricians.

Mid-June has brought with it the first proper blizzard for the season, and our average temperatures are mostly below zero. Aside from frozen water pipes, strong winds and a lot of snow (which is very much a novelty when you come from Perth), snow ball fights and good times were had by all.

Getting close to Midwinter, the days are now getting shorter and shorter with the sun setting by four in the afternoon and field trips getting less frequent.

That’s all from me.

-Kirby
