Macca expeditioners get out and about

An abundance of wildlife

We had a wonderful weather window this week at Macca. Cold, crisp snow days with not much wind made for great conditions to get out and explore.

Almost half of our group made the most of the great weather and got out to explore Lusitania Bay, Hurd Point and some of the more southern points of the Island, whilst those remaining on station got involved in a loud and furious snow fight!

This last week has also been fantastic on the wildlife front with the return of the male royal penguins, multiple leopard seal sightings and moulting king penguins making their home inside the station limits. We've also had an explosion of elephant seal pups all over the island with hundreds now residing around the station.
