Wild weather at Casey strands expeditioners inside. What to do, what to do?

Wild and woolly weather at Australia’s premier Antarctic station

It is all about inclement weather here at Casey station this week with two blizzards hitting in a space of three days, topping out at 80+ knot winds.

The team spent the weekend inside watching movies and entertaining themselves with new hairdos.

Unfortunately for Doug, he was working in the receiver building when the winds picked up, and spent the night camping out ‘hut style'. Outside travel is restricted in the event of high knot winds.

With the blizzards calming down mid Monday morning, the team sprung into action with the de-blizzing of machines, and the removal of snow build up from around critical areas of the station such as the emergency vehicle shelter.
