Summer arrivals at Mawson
A very busy week at Mawson with the summer season officially commenced following the arrival of 18 new expeditioners.
Using two airframes and logistic support from Davis station, the 18 expeditioners and two tonnes of cargo were safely transferred to Mawson in one day!
The planes landed on sea ice in Kista Strait, about 500-metres from station on an (unusually) sunny Mawson day…perhaps our run of 50 winter blizzards has finally come to an end(?).
