The life of a Field Training Officer at Davis
During resupply we were out supporting science and deep field projects. I was fortunate to experience the emperor penguin colony at Amanda Bay, the Woop Woop Ski Landing Area and Law Base in the Larsemann Hills. After the Nuyina left, we’ve been working on getting all of our expeditioners at Davis through the 24-hour survival training they need to work and recreate safely outside the station limits. Hiking out to a field hut for an outdoor bivvy has been a great way to continue getting to know the team. The weather is changing, the weeks are flying by and it feels like this short summer will be over before I know it. I’m trying to savour the quiet moments in the chaos to appreciate this wild experience.
