Our Field Training Officer takes some expeditioners for an Easter Long Weekend walk in the Framnes Mountains

I'm Jason - the station's winter Field Training Officer, privileged to have been selected for a second season working for the Australian Antarctic Division at Mawson.

While it is early into our 2026 seaon and we are still in the process of getting all of our expeditioners survival and field travel trained, I had the opportunity to take a few keen walkers on a recreational trip over the Easter long weekend. The following photos were taken last Monday, while exploring the Patterned Lake Loop within the Central Masson Range of the Framnes Mountains.
