Auroras, blizzards, glaciers and icebergs
It’s been an absolutely amazing time in Antarctica, and I’ve made sure to squeeze every last drop out of the experience. I made a point of never turning down an invitation for field trips or any of the SAR (Search and Rescue) training- often saying yes to a trip even before I knew where we would be going.
Now, as I scroll through my phone’s photo album, it all starts to feel like a big, beautiful dream.
It’s hard to believe I’ve witnessed and experienced so much in my time here.
Contributing to the program has felt immensely good – especially the most rewarding work of all: working out on the field huts and upgrading / refurbishing the living quarters and the gym and seeing the value it has added to the quality of life for my mates here.
I can’t wait to get home, tell my friends and family about all of it, and share the photos that prove this dream was real! With any luck my experiences here may start a snowball effect for further great experiences and challenges in my career
Words only show so much so hopefully the photos give some perspective, cheers beeks
