James and I were down at Klub katabatic minding our own business when Lockie and Dom came up to us and challenged us in a game of doubles in darts. We were feeling pretty confident, maybe a little too much. The other two were talking smack, so we decided to raise the stakes, losers had to dye their hair blonde. The bet sounded too good to be true, I thought it was going to be an easy win. We all laughed and shook on it.
The game couldn’t have started better and we were up for most of the game but we made a fatal mistake. We took Dom for granted. We didn’t realise how much he’s been practicing and he’d gotten good. They were both hitting triples like it was nothing. It wasn’t long until things started falling apart. We were missing easy shots, hitting all the wrong numbers. I’m not sure if it was the pressure that was getting to us, but before we knew it, they’d won, and we were just standing there in disbelief.
The next day I thought, "maybe if I don’t bring it up, no one would ask about the game and the whole thing would blow over", but before I knew it the whole station had already heard, there was no getting out of it. Our chef and part time hairdresser, Kez, understood the assignment and the rest is history.
