We're getting ready to leave the island...

Many expeditioners are starting to pack; our baggage is due for processing in our store over the next two weeks. We are having our final trips out in the field and saying goodbye to our favourite huts and tracks down-island.

Our final days in Sub-Antarctica are as precious as they are busy. All work groups prepare for the complete personnel changeover and the mad dash of a three-week resupply while continuing our day jobs. We look forward to the first bite of fresh fruit in a year, the first sip of coffee that isn't from year-old beans, and the first hugs and kisses we have with our family since the Nuyina departed 12 months ago.

Many emotions come up through it all, but surrounding them all is a sense of excitement for these lively final weeks on Macquarie Island.
