Dodging the weather to resupply Macca
Since RSV Nuyina arrived at Macquarie Island last Saturday, station and ship personnel have been dodging the weather to get critical cargo and people ashore.
Fog, wind, snow, rain and hail have made the job difficult. But despite the challenges, helicopters and LARCS have delivered almost half the cargo, including mail, building materials and small vehicles.
Wintering expeditioners, including the island’s doctor and electrician are also settling in to their new home.
We’ll return to your regular station news programming next week.
