Station Leader and Deputy Station Leader talk about how great team Casey is

Tight after two months

Hi, its Dani (big boss) the Station Leader and Justine (little boss) the Deputy Station Leader and we thought we would share with you the values we live by here at Casey station this season.

We not me – living on station is like living in a village and everyone needs to contribute to getting the job done.  We currently have the Nuyina in town delivering a full years supply of fuel, food, equipment and anything else we might need for a year.  This takes the whole team – all 100 of us and it only works if we put the team in front of our individual needs.  And team Casey is exceeding expectations on this value.

Just own it – pretty self explanatory.  We have a no blame culture and we learn from everything we do.  We are all in a new and often strange environment here so making small mistakes is part of the gig.  We own our actions and decisions.

Hear and be heard – We come from many different backgrounds, jobs and lived experiences and we are better together when we listen and learn from each other.  Each and every day you can see people in groups bantering, enjoying a game, working together, listening to Science talks and cleaning the kitchen.  There is space for everyone here.

Be your best self – Unlike any other workplace we live and work together for months on end and some for up to a year and there is nowhere to hide.  We work long hours so we often have to dig deep to be our best selves but there is always smile, lots of laughter and a very hard working coffee machine.

We have an awesome team here this year and so shout out to them for living and breathing these values.  It’s a privilege to be here with you.

Dani and Justine
