Nominations are invited for people who have made an outstanding contribution to Australia’s Antarctic Program.

The Australian Antarctic Medal gives national recognition to expeditioners whose participation in our Antarctic program has been exceptional in effort, scope or achievement and who have made a unique and significant contribution.

The Australian Antarctic Medal, established in 1987, is an award in the Meritorious Service Awards category of the Australian Honours System. As an award in the Australian Honours System, there is no higher award for Antarctic service.

If you know someone you believe worthy of consideration for the medal, please take a look at the Antarctic Medal page on our website to find out more about the criteria for being considered and how to make a nomination.

Nominations close on 28 February 2018.
