The Australian Antarctic Program is looking for more than 200 tradespeople – including plumbers, plant operators, communications tech officers and carpenters – to live and work in Antarctica or the sub-Antarctic in 2025/26. Successful expeditioners will live in tight knit communities, helping run Australia’s three scientific research stations in Antarctica – Davis, Mawson and Casey – and one on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island.

Casey Station Leader Dani Yannopoulos said living and working on the frozen continent is an incredible experience.

“This is an opportunity that most people can only dream of, a once in a lifetime adventure,” she said.

“The wildlife and the scenery are unbelievable, but the friendships formed and the sense of community on station is what stays with people for a lifetime.

“Being an Antarctic expeditioner is an achievement no one can take away from you.”
