Nominations are now invited for people who have made a unique and outstanding contribution to Australia’s Antarctic Program.

The Australian Antarctic Medal recognises expeditioners whose participation in the Program has been exceptional in effort, scope or achievement. There is no higher award for Antarctic service.

The Medal was established in 1987 and is an accolade in the Meritorious Service Awards category of the Australian honours system.

To nominate someone for the medal, visit the Antarctic Medal page to find out more about the criteria for being considered and how to make a nomination.

Nominations close on 28 February 2019.
