Bob Orchard’s first of many periods of service as a Communications Officer in the Antarctic was at Casey in 1982. He made an outstanding effort managing Australia’s busiest Antarctic communications centre in his first year and then in 1984 was selected as Second-in-Command at Davis where he again made a significant contribution to the morale of the winter party.
