Ray Morris wintered at Casey in 1978 and at Davis in 1981 and 1985. He was solely responsible for the Upper Atmosphere Physics program which was based at Davis. However, he also led a number of field parties in the Vestfold Hills. He proved himself to be exceptionally dedicated both as a scientist and expeditioner. Though heavily involved in scientific work, his high morale, willingness and positive involvement in expedition life were a stabilising influence on the expedition.
