The sea trials are taking advantage of weather conditions to test the effects of ‘windage’ on the vessel.
This is an important part of the formal process for Nuyina to transit under the Tasman Bridge for refuelling at Selfs Point.
Nuyina was granted conditional approval to transit the bridge last year.
The Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) remains confident of a positive outcome, including a set of environmental limitations for transiting under the bridge that will be operationally acceptable.
The vessel will depart Hobart for Macquarie Island research station in early May for cargo delivery and science support.
