Are you a storyteller who loves science and has a passion for Antarctica? Can you see yourself filing stories from the icy south?

Applications for the Australian Antarctic Media Program open today! The Program provides opportunities for media crews to join the Australian Antarctic Program in the summer of 2021-22.

There are three options for travel between November and March, to teams of no more than three people;

  1. Join a voyage by ship to Antarctica (four weeks)
  2. Fly to Casey station via Wilkins ice runway (two weeks)
  3. Participate in trial voyages of the RSV Nuyina from Hobart (3-4 days)

The aim of the Media Program is to raise the profile of the Australian Antarctic Program, including scientific research and operations in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean region.

Preference will be given to media representatives whose reporting reaches a broad audience through multiple media channels.

The successful applicants will work with the Antarctic Division media team to refine their project once logistics and science projects for the summer season are finalised.

Given the complexity of planning projects in Antarctica, applicants need to be very flexible. Successful applicants will be notified in July.

Applications are open for a two week period, closing at 1700 AEST Friday 30 April 2021.
