The Quantitative Antarctic Science (QAS) PhD program is a new initiative from the Australian Antarctic Division in partnership with the University of Tasmania. The program aims to foster the development of Antarctic and Southern Ocean scientists with skills in numerical modelling, statistics, and other quantitative areas.

The program provides students with the opportunity to work on a range of Antarctic and Southern Ocean science projects, top-up scholarships, and tailored coursework.

The first two QAS students have recently started, working on echosounding (acoustics) and sea ice modelling projects. New applications are welcome from students considering PhD studies in 2013.

For more information, see the QAS information page or contact the course coordinator Dr Simon Wotherspoon.
