Australian Antarctic Magazine — Issue 7: Spring 2004

About the cover

At 2745m Mawson Peak dominates Heard Island. The peak marks the summit of Big Ben, an active volcano covered in a thick mantle of snow and glacial ice and surrounded by black volcanic rocks. A smoke plume and fresh lava flowing down the Gotley Glacier are visible. Eric Woehler
