Rod Ledingham has been selected on five occasions to lead ANARE summer field programs and each of these expeditions have been highly successful. Expeditions under his leadership have been very productive scientifically, as well as operationally safe. He inspires good performance from others and provides members with a tireless and enthusiastic example as a leader prepared to tackle any task.
Rod was the main inspiration and driving force in the development of a small, portable, fibreglass field hut known as an “apple” which is now extensively used by ANARE and others worldwide.
Rod has given outstanding service to ANARE since 1976 and played a key role in field operations, and made important contributions to equipment for such operations.
