Category 3: Conference paper

All-sky imaging Fabry-Perot spectrometers can provide two dimensional maps of thermospheric wind and temperature fields over a circular region spanning around 1400 km in diameter at F-region heights, or about half this in the E-region.

A new Scanning Doppler Imager for Mawson, Antarctica. MIST Meeting, Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom, 16–20 April, 2007, 2007 (Ref: 14891)
Category 3: Conference paper

A new Scanning Doppler Imager (SDI) has been constructed and recently located to Mawson, Antarctica. The SDI is a separation scanning Fabry-Perot Interferometer (FPI) coupled to an all-sky lens and imaging detector. This permits rapid scanning of the interference fringes over most of the sky.

Category 3: Conference paper

Large-etalon Fabry-Perot Spectrometers (FPS) measure upper atmosphere winds and temperatures by observing spectral profiles of atmospheric emission lines with sufficient resolution to determine the Doppler broadening, from which temperature is deduced…

Coordinated Movements Prevent Jamming in an Emperor Penguin Huddle. PLoS ONE, 2011 (Ref: 14719)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

For Emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri), huddling is the key to survival during the Antarctic winter. Penguins in a … huddle are packed so tightly that individual movements become impossible, reminiscent of a jamming transition in … compacted colloids. It is crucial, however…

A comparison of Antarctic ground based hydroxyl rotational temperatures with recent satellite observations. Abstracts of the SCAR Open Science Conference, Hobart, 12-14 July 2006., 2006 (Ref: 12475)
Category 3: Poster

An 11 year climatology (1995-2005) of mesopause region temperatures over Davis station, Antarctica (68°S, 78°E) has been derived from hydroxyl rotational spectra measured using a … scanning spectrometer.
