Horizontal momentum fluxes associated with tides in the MLT over Antarctica. 38th COSPAR Scientific Assembly, Bremen, Germany, 18-25 July 2010, 2010 (Ref: 14287)
Category 3: Poster

A consequence of the wave-number rich tidal activity that has been observed in the southern polar MLT is that the horizontal flux of horizontal momentum (u'v') is likely to be non-zero. This quantity is affected by the phase angle between the zonal and meridional wind perturbations.

Source regions for Antarctic MLT non-migrating semidiurnal tides Geophysical Research Letters, 2009 (Ref: 13723)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

Source regions for the westward propagating zonal … wavenumber one and three components of the semidiurnal … tide observed in the summer mesosphere and lower … thermosphere over Antarctica are identified by correlating … local tidal variations with global planetary wave one activity … in the…

Planetary waves and intraseasonal oscillations at Davis, Antarctica, from undersampled time series Journal of Geophysical Research, 2007 (Ref: 13258)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

[1] Nine years (1997 to 2005) of nighttime hydroxyl (6-2) band rotational temperatures … were measured with a scanning spectrometer over Davis station, Antarctica (68.6S, 78.0E). A novel time series analysis technique is employed to create continuous longterm … time series…

ICESTAR - Interactions between planetary waves and tides in the Antarctic middle atmosphere. Abstracts of the SCAR Open Science Conference, Hobart, 12-14 July 2006., 2006 (Ref: 12471)
Category 3: Abstract

The international cooperation that makes Antarctica a continent for science has enabled … observations of the Antarctic middle atmosphere that are not possible anywhere else on … Earth. Atmospheric radars operated by Australia (Davis), Japan (Syowa), the UK and the … USA (Rothera)…

ICESTAR: Vertical coupling of the atmosphere over Antarctica via atmospheric tides. Abstract Volume of the SCAR Open Science Conference, Hobart 12-14 July 2006, 2006 (Ref: 12470)
Category 3: Poster

The atmospheric tides are a dominant and persistent feature of the mesosphere and lowerthermosphere … region of the atmosphere which spans from 80 to 120km above the Earth’s … surface. The tides…
