Characteristics of Inertial Gravity Waves in the Antarctic Stratosphere. American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting, San Francisco, USA, 9-13 December 2013, 2013 (Ref: 15163)
Category 3: Poster

A decade of radiosonde observations of wind and temperature in the troposphere and lower stratosphere have made it possible to compile a climatology of low-frequency gravity waves above Davis, Antarctica (69S, 78E). Wave characteristics, extracted using wavelet analysis [Zink and Vincent, 2001]…

Horizontal momentum fluxes associated with tides in the MLT over Antarctica. 38th COSPAR Scientific Assembly, Bremen, Germany, 18-25 July 2010, 2010 (Ref: 14287)
Category 3: Poster

A consequence of the wave-number rich tidal activity that has been observed in the southern polar MLT is that the horizontal flux of horizontal momentum (u'v') is likely to be non-zero. This quantity is affected by the phase angle between the zonal and meridional wind perturbations.

Source regions for Antarctic MLT non-migrating semidiurnal tides Geophysical Research Letters, 2009 (Ref: 13723)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

Source regions for the westward propagating zonal … wavenumber one and three components of the semidiurnal … tide observed in the summer mesosphere and lower … thermosphere over Antarctica are identified by correlating … local tidal variations with global planetary wave one activity … in the…

ICESTAR - Interactions between planetary waves and tides in the Antarctic middle atmosphere. Abstracts of the SCAR Open Science Conference, Hobart, 12-14 July 2006., 2006 (Ref: 12471)
Category 3: Abstract

The international cooperation that makes Antarctica a continent for science has enabled … observations of the Antarctic middle atmosphere that are not possible anywhere else on … Earth. Atmospheric radars operated by Australia (Davis), Japan (Syowa), the UK and the … USA (Rothera)…
