Expanded role for gravity wave parameterization in WACCM 26th International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Conference, Prague, Czech Republic, 22 June-2 July 2015, 2015 (Ref: 15726)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

The parameterization of gravity waves in the NCAR Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model (WACCM) includes orographic, convective, and frontal sources. Even with these, the model simulates temperatures in the Antarctic lower stratosphere during winter and spring that are much lower than observed.

Horizontal phase velocity distributions of gravity waves observed by Antarctic Gravity Wave Imaging/Instrument Network (ANGWIN), using 3-D spectral analysis technique 26th International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Conference, Prague, Czech Republic, 22 June-2 July 2015, 2015 (Ref: 15727)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

Atmospheric gravity waves (AGWs), which are generated in the lower atmosphere, transport significant amount of energy and momentum into the mesosphere and lower thermosphere. Among many parameters to characterize AGWs, horizontal phase velocity is very important to discuss the vertical propagation.

Comparison of horizontal phase velocity distributions of gravity waves observed by ANGWIN, using a 3D spectral technique Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2015, Chiba, Japan, 24-28 May 2015, 2015 (Ref: 15728)

Atmospheric gravity waves (AGWs), which are generated in the lower atmosphere, transport significant amount of energy andmomentum into the mesosphere and lower thermosphere and cause the mean wind accelerations in the mesosphere.

Application of a Histopathology Fish Health Index as a Biomarker of Pollution Effect in East Antarctica 18th International Symposium on Pollutant Responses In Marine Organisms (PRIMO 18), Trondheim, Norway, 24-27 May 2015, 2015 (Ref: 15557)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

Current interpretation of histological alteration in fish as an indicator of contaminant impact is subjective. Generally severity of alteration is poorly described, and does not allow direct comparison between studies. A histological health index (HHI) modified from Bernet et al (1999)…
