Directional anisotropy of C-band backscatter and orientation of surface microrelief in East Antarctica. Proceedings of 1st Australian ERS-1 Symposium, University of Tasmania, Hobart, 6 February 1996, 1996 (Ref: 6923)
Category 3: Conference paper

There is a distinct directional anisotropy in microwave backscatter from the surface of the East Antarctic ice sheet as measured by the C-band wind scatterometer carried by the ERS-1 satellite.

Visualisation of the Antarctic seasonal sea ice zone using ERS-1 wind scatterometer. Congress Proceedings of the 12th Australian Institute of Physics Congress, Hobart, 1996, 1996 (Ref: 7215)
Category 3: Abstract

The ERS-1 wind scatterometer is an active microwave instrument operating at 5.3 GHz in the C-band with VV-polarisation. Measurements of the microwave backscatter coefficient of the surface are made at regularly spaced points within a 500 km wide swath along each orbit.

Hydrographic and climatic changes influencing the proglacial Druzhby drainage system, Vestfold Hills, Antarctica. Antarctic Science, 1996 (Ref: 8725)

Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

Freshwater drainage systems, fed by melting of nearby inland-ice and perennial snowdrifts, exist in the south-eastern part of arid, ice-free, coastal Vestfold Hills. Most important is the complex Druzhby system.
