Planetary wave activity and horizontal fluxes in the MLT above Davis, Antarctica. 39th Committee on Space Research (COSPAR) Scientific Assembly, Mysore, India, July 14-22, 2012, 2012 (Ref: 14834)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

Measurements of mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT) winds obtained using a 2 MHz … radar at Davis (68.6S, 78.0E) from 1993 to the present have allowed the compilation of a … climatology of planetary wave activity and horizontal momentum fluxes.

Thermospheric Studies in Antarctica Using Fabry-Perot Spectrometers at Mawson and Davis Stations. 2008 CEDAR Workshop, Midway Utah, USA, 16–21 June 2008, 2008 (Ref: 14897)
Category 3: Conference paper

La Trobe University has recently installed a new all-sky imaging Fabry-Perot spectrometer at Mawson Station, Antarctica. It is capable of recording independent spectra from many tens of locations across the sky simultaneously…

Ground-Based Doppler Mapping of Thermospheric Wind and Temperature Fields with Very High Spatial Resolution. CEDAR_GEM Joint Workshop, Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA, 26 June - 1 July 2011, 2011 (Ref: 14895)
Category 3: Conference paper

All-sky imaging Fabry-Perot spectrometers can provide two dimensional maps of thermospheric wind and temperature fields over a circular region spanning around 1400 km in diameter at F-region heights, or about half this in the E-region.

Preliminary results of wave generation from a local scale thermospheric model. 2008 CEDAR Workshop, Midway Utah, USA, 16–21 June 2008, 2008 (Ref: 14894)
Category 3: Conference paper

A simplified three dimensional, time-dependant model of a local region of Earth's thermosphere is being developed to investigate dynamical processes occurring over spatial scales of less than 100 km. Because hydrostatic equilibrium is not enforced in the model…

A new Scanning Doppler Imager for Mawson, Antarctica. MIST Meeting, Preston, Lancashire, United Kingdom, 16–20 April, 2007, 2007 (Ref: 14891)
Category 3: Conference paper

A new Scanning Doppler Imager (SDI) has been constructed and recently located to Mawson, Antarctica. The SDI is a separation scanning Fabry-Perot Interferometer (FPI) coupled to an all-sky lens and imaging detector. This permits rapid scanning of the interference fringes over most of the sky.

Stability of Large Fabry-Perot Spectrometer at a Remote Site for Thermosphere and Mesosphere Observations. XXV International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) Conference, Melbourne, Australia, 28 June-7 July, 2011, 2011 (Ref: 14887)
Category 3: Conference paper

Large-etalon Fabry-Perot Spectrometers (FPS) measure upper atmosphere winds and temperatures by observing spectral profiles of atmospheric emission lines with sufficient resolution to determine the Doppler broadening, from which temperature is deduced…

Modern sampling and analytical methods for the determination of trace elements in marine particulate material using magnetic sector inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry. Analytica Chimica Acta, 2010 (Ref: 14827)
Category 1: Peer-reviewed literature

Trace elements often limit phytoplankton growth in the ocean, and the quantification of particulate forms is essential to fully understand their biogeochemical cycling. There is presently a lack of reliable measurements on the trace elemental content of marine particles…

First E-region observations of meso-scale neutral wind interaction with auroral arcs Eos Trans. AGU, 90(52), Fall Meet. Suppl., 2009 (Ref: 14072)
Category 3: Abstract

We report the first observations of E-region neutral wind fields and their … interaction with auroral arcs at meso-scale spatial resolution during … geomagnetically quiet conditions at Mawson, Antarctica. This was achieved by … using a scanning Doppler imager…

Holocene westerly wind and ecosystem changes on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island. 12th International Paleolimnology Symposium, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, Scotland 20-24 August 2012, 2012 (Ref: 14852)
Category 3: Verbal presentation

The mid- to high-latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere are dominated by the westerly winds. These are important because changes in their strength determine precipitation and temperature regimes. However, little is known about their past strength, or spatial and temporal variability.

Holocene climate and ecosystem variability on sub-Antarctic Campbell, Macquarie and Marion Islands. International Quaternary Association, University of Bern, Switzerland 21-27 July 2011, 2011 (Ref: 14855)
Category 3: Poster

The sub-Antarctic region between 45-60°S is primarily ocean. However, there are a few small isolated islands, most of which are currently facing the combined pressures of climate change and introduced species.

Holocene climate and ecosystem variability on sub-Antarctic Campbell, Macquarie and Marion Islands. SCAR Biology-EBA Workshop: Antarctic biodiversity: status and trends, University of Liège, Belgium, 31 May 2011, 2011 (Ref: 14854)
Category 3: Poster

The sub-Antarctic region between 45-60 °S is primarily ocean. However, there are a few small isolated islands, most of which are currently facing the combined pressures of climate change and introduced species.

12,000 years of westerly wind and ecosystem changes on sub-Antarctic Macquarie Island. Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research Open Science Meeting, University of Portland, Portland, USA, 15-19 July 2012, 2012 (Ref: 14853)
Category 3: Poster

Sub-Antarctic islands are the only landmasses between Antarctica and South America, Africa and Australia where terrestrial climate and ecosystem records are available, making them crucial locations for linking southern mid and high latitude regions. However…
