Project aim

The historical gravity record in Antarctica is now over 40 years old. When combined with new precision gravity data there is potential for gravity to determine uplift to a precision of about 2 mm/yr which is similar to that determined with GPS observations. Historical gravity data are quite wide spread and hence these data can be exploited for determing crustal tilting as well as uplift thereby increasing our knowledge of process within the Earth and the effect of climate variations on ice mass, which is the primary load that causes the uplift and tilting.
