Functional genomics of phytoplankton species along a gradient of saline lakes

Project aim

Antarctic saline lakes are stressed aquatic environments. We will look specifically at genes expressed in response to stress factors such as extreme temperature, salinity variation, limitation of phosphorus and nitrogen needed for photosynthesis and loading by viruses in a phytoflagellate (Pyramimonas) from a range of lakes along a salinity gradient.
