Project aim
When skin is exposed to sunlight, vitamin D is produced, which is needed to maintain proper bone health. Therefore long periods of sun deprivation can have a negative effect on bone. This study is examining the effect of a winter in Antarctica, where there is little or no sunlight, on bone metabolism.
