Impact of viscosity on the morphology and swimming behaviour of motile bacterioplankton, phytoplankton and protozooplankton

Project aim

This project investigates how water viscosity (fluid stickiness) in the Southern Ocean varies with temperature and the concentration of polymeric substances. We will look at how water viscosity effects the morphology and motility of marine microorganisms, furthering our understanding of marine food chain and nutrient cycling dynamics.
