Hazard assessment of introduced organisms into Antarctic and Subantartic marine ecosystems

Project aim

This project will seek to define the risk of human-mediated marine introductions into subantarctic and Antarctic coastal environments. Assessment techniques will include the use of molecular tools to determine historical rates of alien establishment, surveys of major biological transport pathways to describe associated biological communities, and laboratory-based analysis assessing the ability of potential invaders to withstand the environmental conditions of the Southern Ocean.
