Project aim
Seawater:ocean crust interaction is a major mechanism of heat loss from the Earth’s interior and a primary influence on the composition of the oceans. Investigating oceanic hydrothermal systems normally requires expensive submersibles or ocean drilling but unique outcrops on Macquarie Island allow these processes to be researched on land.
