Project aim
Seismologists investigate deep Earth structure by interpreting waveforms from distant earthquakes. High-fidelity instruments deployed in Antarctica will enable new details to be imaged in the crust and mantle beneath the ice-covered regions crossed by the earthquake waves. The deep structure tells the story of the ongoing evolution of the tectonic plates.
