Project aim

This project is aimed at developing computational models to simulate the hydrodynamic processes of transport and dispersion of the water and pollutants in the nearshore waters in Antarctica. Of particular interest is the fate and concentrations of wastewater discharges from Casey, Davis and Mawson Stations. The development of reliable models requires calibration and verification with field data which will enable the hydrodynamic processes in the waters to be faithfully represented in the computer models. The field data will also be used to gain an understanding of the driving forces of the water motions (eg. tides, winds and density differences).
