Project aim
The isotopic composition of lead will be used to define: (i) sources of lead contamination associated with global atmospheric pollution, fuel spills and tip materials (ii) lead-dispersal patterns in the environment. This knowledge will help to assess the intensity and extent of heavy metal contamination in the terrestrial and marine environment near Casey and Wilkes stations. We will also be able to better manage/minimise lead contamination and dispersal associated with stations operations and site remediation or removal.
