Cargo schedule for 2023–2024
The Cargo Planning Framework outlines the procedures for submitting electronic consignments in the eCon system and delivering cargo to Supply Chain Operations. This framework applies to all cargo voyages and C17 flight windows.
Green Zone: Consignors can freely submit eCon consignments and deliver cargo without restrictions. If your consignment has a delivery date that falls into the Amber or Red Zones, these dates will be reviewed for feasibility, and you may need to negotiate new dates.
Amber Zone: Only consignments that were submitted and approved during the Green Zone can be delivered in this period. You cannot raise new consignments directly in the eCon sytem during the Amber Zone; instead, you must submit requests for new consignments to the Cargo Planning Team for approval.
Red Zone: Due to processing time and mandatory reporting obligations, the red zone period is the most restrictive. Only cargo that has been pre-approved for Red Zone delivery will be accepted. During this period, if you have late deliveries or identify the need for unplanned station sustainment cargo, you will require approval from your SES manager and the Operations Management Centre (OMC). Please contact the Cargo Planning Team as soon as possible if you identify the need for red zone cargo deliveries.
Where operationally possible, mail will be supported on flights to Antarctica. All mail must be received 10 days prior to the scheduled departure of the flight. Please be aware that there are restrictions on what can be sent as mail, please see the Mail information webpage for more information.
If you have questions, anticipate that your cargo will be late, or have large volumes to deliver, please contact cargo.planning@aad.gov.au. For further information see the Cargo (freight) webpage.
