The weather deteriorated as forecast and we left Casey yesterday evening for open water.
We stooged overnight returning to Casey to complete the remaining loads after lunch today.
The time at sea was not wasted and was spent sailing around icebergs whilst collecting uncontaminated sea water from nearby for an experiment looking at naturally occurring levels of trace elements.
We had planned on spending today, Christmas day, celebrating Christmas with a spread of amazing food and drink, however because we had to return to Casey to finish the resupply I have cancelled Christmas (well delayed it for a day anyway) and am now officially 'The Grinch'!
Finally a very merry Christmas to all the folks at Casey, supporting us from Australia and the other stations, onboard the RSV Aurora Australis and our friends and families at home. Happy Christmas dad!
Cheers
The Grinch and Mike
