Comments

Yesterday afternoon cargo operations continued to around 1900, when we put the barge back on the decks in case the weather overnight or the following morning was windy.

We completed the first and critical part of the cold water calibration of the echo sounders overnight. The Marine Science Technical Support team, helpful scientists and watercraft operators all put in a huge effort in calm and still conditions; perfect for hanging the cobalt metal ball under the ships hull on 4 electronically controlled fishing rods, to move the suspended ball back and fore beneath the hull mounted sensors.

Our second day at Casey has also been a great success with the first Return To Australia (RTA) cargo coming to the ship this afternoon.

Tomorrow we hope to move the crane from the hold. The crane weighs in at over 30MT so we have removed the heavy counter weight and a few other bits to lighten it enough to put on the barge. Until the crane is set up ashore we can't move any of the remaining cargo which is either in the hold below or too heavy to lift until the crane is set up shore side.

Cheers

Andy and Mike
