After a phenomenal effort yesterday by the refueling team, watercraft crews, shoreside personnel and the ship’s crew we managed to get ashore 179,900L of SAB fuel during the afternoon in spite of the challenges we faced earlier in the day. This is more than the minimum fuel required to enable the station to continue normal operations until next resupply. This morning a blanket of fog covered Macquarie Island severely reducing visibility and our ability to continue with cargo operations. We have been waiting all morning for the fog to lift, however strong northerly winds have now sprung up. Should the opportunity arise this afternoon we will swing into action and continue on with the resupply.
